From Bard's Lore

This is a step-by-step guide for creating character pages here on Bard's Lore.

Example pages:

1. Log into your Bard’s Lore account
2. Find your character’s page (see Character List)
3. Edit
4. Replace content of character page with the following text:
5. Save
6. Edit
7. Fill in information on the template that has now appeared:
1. Note: Leave PAGENAME alone -- it’ll bring in your character’s name wherever it is located within the page. To add a surname that is also in bold font, add the name(s) after the closing braces }} but before the closing single quotation marks ‘’’
2. Replace race with your character’s race
3. Replace class with your character’s class
4. Replace PlayerName with your player name -- be sure it is still surrounded by brackets
5. OPTIONAL: To add in a picture of your character, insert the following text:
1. If your photo is not already uploaded, you’ll have to upload it. To do so, in the Tools dropdown menu (top right), select “upload file” and follow directions.
2. In the link to the picture that you copy/pasted onto your character page, change Example.jpg to the name of the file that you uploaded.
3. |right| will keep your picture to the right. Leave it be for now.
4. |350px| sets the size of your picture. If this size irritates you, play around with it until you like it (hit the “show preview” button at the bottom of the page to test before hitting save)
5. Replace “Picture of Character” with an appropriate description of your picture -- whether it be “picture of ___” or “inspiration for ___” or something similar. If you have the credits for the picture, please include them either in the description/caption or when you upload the picture. Be careful using copyrighted material, as this is a public website.
6. Add in the information that is appropriate to each section
1. The background section is a brief summary to give an overall idea of where your character comes from and what makes them who they are. The above link to Jester Lavorre’s page has a good example.
1. OPTIONAL: To add a link to your character's narrative backstory, copy/paste the following code: CharacterName's Narrative Backstory
2. Replace CharacterName with your character's name. It is not necessary to keep "CharacterName's Narrative Backstory" as the text for the link. Feel free to replace it with appropriate text to make the link flow better on your particular Character page.
2. The “ep|??” section is for anything that has grown or is important to the character that happened during the story. It is highly unlikely that something majorly important has happened in every single episode. Choose the big ones.
3. For the “Relationships” section, add in those characters that your character has relationships with that you would like to share (for example, Ruka’s page would have much for Minn, but likely nothing for Alexa; Randy’s page would have a section for Cham, though unlinked [no NPC pages at this point]). To link to another character’s page while also making the name a subtitle, enclose the name with three equals signs and two brackets on both sides (e.g., === Jak === ).
4. Character Information, Quotations, and Trivia are optional sections.
8. If there is something that is not on or linked from this page that you’d like to see (e.g., narrative character backgrounds), do not simply add in this section/link -- let us know about your idea. We’d like to keep everything as parallel as possible and also make things logical in flow.
