Gidget is a Gnome Brawler played by Lorien.

Description

Appearance

Gidget is 3'3" tall and weighs 33 lb. Surprisingly for a gnome, she currently has brown hair and eyes. She retains her other typical gnomeish oddities, however, and wears different types of twigs in her hair.

Personality

Gidget loves to have fun, but doesn't take kindly to anyone playing tricks on her best friend, Eliud, other than herself (she highly encourages anyone to ask him about his encounter with Baba Yaga). Although she can irritate the sanity out of most people without even trying, she is fiercely loyal to those she loves.

Biography

Background

Gidget has spent most of her days wandering around the world (specifically the River Kingdoms, Andoran, and surrounding countries), collecting twigs from every type of tree in every region she's been in. Eventually, she found she needed some cash, and took a job in Falcon's Hollow as a lumberjack. It was there she joined with Mala, Eliud, and Chorazin to help save Falcon's Hollow from a strange disease.

Risen From the Sands

After saving Falcon's Hollow from disease and recovering their missing children from an undead soulforge, Gidget and her friends traveled to Almas, the capital of Andoran, where they heard about the newly-discovered pyramid in Osirion. Before leaving, they pooled their cash to remove the curse on her adamantine gauntlet, allowing her to remove it at will.

Relationships

Eliud

Eliud is Gidget's best friend of all time. Despite his being a Half Elf, twice her height, and not even half her age, Eliud and Gidget spend most of their time together. Having similar senses of humor, they feed off of each other's wit, often causing the others in their party to sigh with longsuffering. In battle, however, their camaraderie pays off as they flank foe after foe, watching out for each other and encouraging each other. This protectiveness extends beyond conflicts with enemies, however, and sometimes causes problems among the party, as the two friends are fiercely loyal to each other and don't put up with others teasing their BFF (that is, after all, the sole privilege of the BFF). Whenever she gets the chance, Gidget encourages and feeds ideas to Eliud in his interest in Mala.

Mala

Gidget has a high respect for Mala. Although she nicknamed the Aasimar "The Fire Queen" and often teases her about her good looks, Gidget sees the other woman as a wise confidante and peacekeeper in the group. As Gidget knows little about magic (mostly tricks) but Mala knows much, Gidget looks to Mala for guidance and insight throughout their travels.

The Fourth Party Member

Gidget has had a rough time with those who become the fourth party member of the group. Initially Chorazin, Gidget developed a deep disdain for the Human when he played a trick on Eliud in a dungeon: although Gidget can appreciate a good trick, she believes only she has the right to play tricks on Eliud, and she loudly protests when others dare to try. Upon arriving in Almas, Chorazin disappeared, but sent a friend of his, Kavon, to help the party. Gidget, against Eliud's advice, agreed with Mala to allow Kavon to join them -- a choice she isn't afraid to use as a threat to remove him from the party should he play too many tricks on her BFF. Thus far, she believes the Fourth Party Member to be like many other Humans who misunderstand Gnomes and often treat them with contempt.

Character Information

Abilities

As a Brawler, Gidget is strong and can use any part of her body to deal a considerable amount of damage. Shortly after meeting for the first time, Eliud challenged her strength, and she proved herself by punching him in the knee. Although she purposefully pulled her punch so as to only deal non-lethal damage, Eliud almost fell unconscious from the sheer pain in his knee. To this day, this pain will flare up and remind him that despite her small stature, Gidget is tougher than she seems.

Notable Items

Gidget has an adamantine gauntlet. Discovered in an abandoned temple to a Dwarven god, she donned the gauntlet after Mala (failing an arcana check) told her it was okay to do so. They quickly determined, however, that the gauntlet was cursed, and Gidget spent the rest of the adventure with an adamantine fist. Once their goal was achieved, the party traveled to Almas, where they pooled their cash to pay for the curse to be removed.

Quotations

Trivia

  • Gidget is Lorien's "challenge character." The Brawler guides available online all strongly suggest Gnome as a race to absolutely avoid. #ChallengeAccepted
  • Lorien originally rolled Gidget's ability scores and intended to stick with the first set rolled. When her GM discovered that this gave Gidget a mere 12 in strength, he insisted that the ability scores be re-rolled until an 18 was present in the set. (This still only gives Gidget a 16 to strength, as Gnomes take a -2 to strength scores upon creation.)
