[01:35:38] Steel01: Short story, Ruka is not actually bonded with Cabal. Mechanically, she's burning spell slots to 'force sync'. Those that have seen Soul Eater, think Black Star and Soul trying to sync. It takes a lot of energy and doesn't end well.
[01:37:27] MakoSoldier626: But when the option is between that, and being attacked as a caster by a spider large enough to be a threat to a party of lvl 9 characters then force syncing is typically better than being grabbed by a giant spider.
[01:37:52] Steel01: Well sure, that's an option. But it's not the first one Ruka's gonna take.

Part of his dying wish was for her to continue on and find another Valesar and continue to destroy the dragons (see narratives on Bards Lore). Then enter someone using the power of ice. How is that gonna affect her so shortly after losing Chorazin?
