''Beware the Gingerbread!'' -- Frea, Cailean, and Mala wake up to find themselves on the fringes of the Ilsenstein and soon wander into nearby Hochwald. They're not there long before agreeing to help a girl named G (though her parents call her ''Gretel'') save her little brother Hansel from an evil witch, first traveling through the fabled, dangerous Ilsenstein forest and then bypassing the vicious sweets outside and inside of the witch's gingerbread hut.
